P&A PARTNERSHIP TO PROVIDE LONG TERM
COMMUNITY SUPPORT
WITH NEW CHARITABLE FUND AT SYCF

A LEADING insolvency firm has demonstrated its commitment to the local community by supporting a groundbreaking match funding programme to benefit South Yorkshire.
The P & A Partnership has set up its own endowed charitable fund worth £25,000 with the South Yorkshire Community Foundation to provide support for community groups and projects helping disadvantaged children.
But through SYCF’s innovative Grassroots Grants programme, the firm’s donation was actually just £10,000, but took advantage of gift aid and match funding to create the bumper amount for the area.
Jeremy Priestley, managing partner of the P & A Partnership, said: “We have an interest in supporting projects an initiatives that work with disadvantaged children, and this has given us a fantastic opportunity to set up a charitable fund with that as its key objective.
“The South Yorkshire Community Foundation has great links with the local community and we look forward to seeing our fund support some vital causes in the area.”
The match funding has been made available by SYCF as part of the national Government-funded Grassroots Grants endowment challenge.
‘The P & A Partnership Grassroots Endowment Fund’ will sit as a permanent capital pot, with the interest on the fund going out in grants to local community initiatives forever from April 2011.
“We’ve traded in Sheffield for 125 years and care greatly about the future of the area. This fund gives us the opportunity to put something back.
“The pound for pound match funding is of great benefit to our donation and will double the impact of our charitable intention to provide long term funding for worthy causes in the area.”
The Grassroots Grants programme has entered its third and final year, with generous businesses and organisations throughout South Yorkshire looking at how the innovative programme can boost their charitable giving.
Through the first two years of the programme, more than £2 million of endowment funding has been raised to provide long term support to communities and projects in South Yorkshire.
Pauline Grice, chief executive of South Yorkshire Community Foundation, said: “The Grassroots Grants programme has been a great success up to now thanks to the generosity of people in South Yorkshire.
“The P & A Partnership is a shining example of how organisations with a passion for supporting the local area can do so and get the greatest impact out of their money by taking advantage of this once in a lifetime giving programme.”
If the third year allocation of match funding is matched by the people of South Yorkshire, there will be a total amount of £3.4 million available to provide long term support for the area.
